Even when working with a professional editing team to handle your podcast’s production, there will still be a number of steps required from you and potentially your VA/team, depending on your structure.
Most of us are using some sort of productivity/task management tool such as Monday, Asana, ClickUp, etc to manage and delegate tasks within our organizations.
It’s useful to have a workflow template that you can load up into your software for each podcast episode. Common tasks to include within your workflow are:
- Episode Preparation/Pre-Production (Preparing discussion topics, researching guest, writing talking points for solo shows)
- Record Episode
- Send Episode for Editing
- Review and Approve Episode
- Create Social Media Assets
- Write & Send Newsletter About Episode
- Share/Schedule Episode Content on Social Media
- Followup with Guest (See: Guest Followup System)
If you don’t currently have this type of workflow setup for your podcast, we highly recommend implementing one! You can use the ideas on this page as inspiration, but feel free to talk with us if you have specific questions.
If you aren’t presently using any type of productivity platform yet, it’s worth doing some research before choosing which works best for you. At East Coast Studio, we have been using ClickUp for a long time and wouldn’t survive without it!
