Podcast Frameworks

4 HEALTH PODCAST SUCCESS PILLARS

A successful health-focused podcast must have all 4 of these in place.

Content

  • What you’re putting out there must actually be GOOD and deliver value!
  • Deeply understand the struggles of your ideal client. Whether you’re a health business coach or providing health advice, tailor content to address the specific needs, pain points, and interests of your ideal client.
  • The sound quality, editing, and structure of your episodes should reflect professionalism. We don’t want to give a bad impression of you, plus poor quality audio is one of the biggest ways to lose listeners.
  • Be sure you get the opportunity to demonstrate authority (do some solo shows in addition to guest episodes

Audience

  • We need an AUDIENCE to sell to!
  • Doesn’t need to be a massive audience (going viral isn’t the goal) but it needs to be the right one.
  • Accelerate growth by promoting your show, making guest appearances, inviting people onto your episodes, networking with others in your industry, and fostering an engaged community.
  • Connect with your audience outside of just the podcast, such as on social media or through a newsletter.

Offer

  • You must have a solid business, funnel, and high-ticket offer in place.
  • A “leaky bucket” of losing clients, poor conversion rates, and low margins MUST BE FIXED FIRST, otherwise NO marketing will help!
  • A high-ticket offer (w/ Recurring Revenue if possible!) provides the margins required to generate a massive ROI from podcasting.
  • Understand your perfect clients and be able to deliver their dream outcome.
  • A lead magnet is a great thing to promote in your podcast to collect and nurture leads, or you can promote your business directly. Either way, all roads should lead to your high-ticket offer as the centerpiece.

Commitment

  • Like anything, building a successful podcast takes time. You must be dedicated to doing this over a period of years.
  • Establish and stick to a predictable release schedule.
  • Your podcast duties should be no more than recording, approving episodes, and possibly guest outreach.
  • Ensure you have a proper team and workflow in place to remove friction from the podcasting process and optimize your chances for success over the long term.

HEALTH PODCAST GROWTH PATHWAYS

With the pillars in place, what direct strategies can we employ to steadily grow a podcast audience over time?

Optimize

  • Mostly related to organic discovery.
  • Have adequate show notes for SEO, but also optimize podcast title, description, and episode names with keywords for discoverability.
  • Take ownership of traffic by having your own domain name and website.

Connect

  • It’s about people!
  • Cross-promote by being a guest on other podcasts and hosting guests on yours. Tap into each others’ audiences and become connections on social media!
  • Engage your community. Stay in touch via social media or email. Respond to inquiries, post interactive content, and interact with theirs!

Repurpose

  • Get a bigger ROI from podcasting and make the most of your content.
  • It can be repurposed with little effort from you into various types of social media posts, e-mail newsletters, blog posts, books, courses, live streams and more!
  • The best part about this is delegation and automation. Extra results with no extra work.

Promote

  • You can actively promote your podcast either via paid or unpaid means.
  • Paid would include sponsoring email lists or podcasts, social media campaigns, or ads on various podcast apps such as Pocket Casts, Podcast Addict, Overcast, and even Spotify.
  • Unpaid promotion could include Facebook or LinkedIn groups, finding and interacting with other social media users, attending events, AMAs, and more!
